Check out Tumble Books...here is what the website has to say about itself. I couldn't have said it better, so I just quoted it right here! The link to this amazing site is below in my resources list.
"TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of TumbleBooks – animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you."
"The TumbleBookLibrary provides enrichment to students who are reading independently with a variety of high interest material. It also provides support to students who require skill building with a variety of exercises that can be matched with other areas of the curriculum. In general, TumbleBooks are a great addition to a reading program that can be worked on independently by each student or by the whole class. It has been exceptionally well received by ESL and Special Education teachers."
When I created this blog, I designed it to use as a resource for parents and educators. It only consisted of tips for helping children at home with literacy-related activities. Many parents have asked me what they can do to help their child(ren) at home with their reading. I, along with some ideas from fellow educators, have come up with many ways and resources for just that. For the educators, I have added tips and resources for those teachers who struggle with coming up with ideas to share with parents. But as time went on, it has evolved into my personal thoughts on more than just reading...

Make a Book-Reading Challenge
Challenge your child(ren) to read over their Christmas Break. Many times, kids seem to venture to the TV rather than a good book. Investing is some great Christmas books/stories is a way to get your kids excited about reading. And, since you might have the opportunity to be at home too, read along with them! Remember...Model, Model, Model!
Get BOOKS instead of TOYS
It's that time of year...so why not get your child(ren) a few more books this year for Christmas instead of a bunch of toys that he/she will never play with after a few months. You can never have too many books! Also, if space is an issue, clean out old books that your child has outgrown and pass them down to a family member who will use them. Schools are also always taking donations of books for the classroom libraries.

Create a Reading Corner
Create a spot in your home for just reading that you and your family can enjoy. Add a few big, fun pillows and blankets to cozy it up along with some decent lighting. Snacks are also an idea to get comfy in your new spot.
Mess-Ups are OK...
An idea for helping with mistakes while reading is to show your own mistakes while reading in order to model that everyone makes mistakes. This type of modeling not only helps your child feel more comfortable, but also gives him/her the opportunity to “help” you with your miscues. Never be afraid to make mistakes in front of your child. That is how we all learn. After all... research shows that parents are a child's first teacher.
